The ring is easier for people to find the dot when they aren’t used to a dot, or have a bad draw and presentation and can’t find the dot. I liked the ring better at first, and now prefer the larger single dot.

Looks like both of these won't work after a drop. Sage Dynamics did a shoulder height drop of the Romeo1 and the glass completely shattered. He has dropped several other non-Sig RDS and they survived 4 shoulder height drops.The Romeo has a matte finish while the Holosun has a bit of a shine to it and bright white letters. Really need to tone it down and do something about the lettering. The frame around the lens on the Holosun is thicker and as a result the lens is smaller (or at least appears smaller) than the Romeo. I really like the 6moa dot on the Holosun.The reason I ask is if you don’t actually want to see the sights and red dot perfectly aligned at all times (absolute cowitness), which most people don’t, then you’re in luck because these small/slimline optics (Sig Zero, Shield RMSc, Holosun 507k) are designed to 1/3 cowitness with regular sized sights.

You do not need the rear pins that came with Max-9, the 507k doesn't use them. Check that the screws are not bottoming in the holes. Page 39 & 40 in the Max-9 manual have the instructions for mounting an optic.
