Fully buffer, he doesn't die on me nearly as much as some others do. He also does great dmg with sneak attacks. Use greater invis, haste, and so on. He's an Eldritch Scoundrel, which means he traded light armor proficiency and about half of his rogue sneak attack & talent feats for wizard spells (up to level 6). At low levels, buff him with Mage Armor + Shield spells for +8 AC; also remember his arcane defensive buffs like Mirror Image.
